Looking out for Number One

I think that looking out for yourself should not be your primary basis for making decisions. I think this because I feel that looking out for others is the right thing to do. If you were looking out for yourself your entire life, you would end up like Ebenezer Scrooge, a greedy, selfish man. In A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, the main character, Scrooge, was a selfish man for decades. In the end, Scrooge realizes that life was not all about looking out for yourself, but looking out for others. The Three Spirits, one by one, helped Scrooge realize this life fact and teach him how to selfless. If you follow this philosophy, you should look out for others when they are in need of help. You should also, especially near Christmas, give others gifts over expecting to receive gifts yourself.

Scrooge's Diary
